Microsoft has told media that it is going to launch a voice-activated service for the globally known operating system Windows Mobile. The functionality of this service will let a user to search the web with the help of his voice and write text messaging by dictation.
The voice-activated technology is introduced by Tellme, a famous company which Microsoft bought in 2007. Tellme also built a similar technology for Blackberry phones. Yahoo already has a service which is similar to the voice-activated service designed by Tellme. Yahoo has featured this technology as ‘Yahoo oneSearch with voice’ which helps users search the web by just speaking.
The director of product management of Tellme, Marcello Typrin has informed that with the voice-activated service a user need to say the word “call” and a name of another user. Then instantly the mobile phones will bring out the name from the address book and thus, it will automatically dial to that user.
This classic technology of Tellme will be available on mobile phones with Microsoft’s next-generation operating system Windows Mobile 6.5 and the users of such mobile phones need not to pay a single penny. It is reported that this technology will be effective in the second segment of this current year.
